Son reports elderly father is victim of identity theft
Lawrenceburg Now
The son of an eighty-seven year old man asked that deputies initiate an investigation last week after he discovered that his father’s identity had been stolen, along with his prescription medication.
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that the victim’s son filed two separate police reports. He told deputies that his father currently resides in an assisted living facility and receives his prescription medication via e-script. When he had not received the package as normal he contacted the pharmacy. They informed him that the package had been mailed to his address nearly three weeks prior. He told deputies that he never received the package.
In addition, the son reported that someone had used his father’s identity to illegally obtain a credit card. At the time the report was filed he said that he had been unable to learn the amount that had been charged using the card, if any.
Presently, both matters remain under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
